What does this checker actually check?
The base pattern — Mars in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house from your ascendant — and two classical cancellation conditions this can be evaluated from a single chart: whether Mars is in its own sign or exalted, and whether Jupiter aspects Mars. It does not check the 'both partners manglik' cancellation, which needs two charts, or the versions counted from the Moon and Venus.
If the base pattern is present with no cancellation, does that mean something is wrong?
No. It means this specific calculator's two checks did not find a cancellation — not that none exists. A full reading also weighs whether a proposed partner is independently manglik (which classical tradition treats as balancing out), the condition of the 7th house, and other factors a single chart can't settle alone.
Do I need my exact birth time for this to be accurate?
Yes, more than for most readings. House placements — which is exactly what this check depends on — shift with birth time, and the ascendant itself changes roughly every two hours. An approximate time (using noon) makes the result unreliable specifically for this check.
