Mars in the 7th house is the placement most often labelled manglik, and that label is where most of the fear comes from. Maṅgala is heat and drive; the 7th is partnership. Put them together and the classical reading is friction in marriage — arguments that ignite quickly, a partner with a strong will, or a relationship in which both people are used to leading.
What the frightening version leaves out is that Mars here is also energy directed at partnership. Many charts with this placement are extremely committed, protective of the spouse and willing to fight for the relationship rather than with it. The same heat that produces the quarrel produces the passion and the loyalty. The question is where it is pointed.
The dosha framing also deserves honesty. Manglik dosha has recognised cancellations — the sign Mars occupies, its dignity, aspects from benefics, and the matching partner's own chart can all mitigate or nullify it, and classical authorities disagree about which houses even count.
