Rahu (Rāhu) is the shadow of hunger — amplification, foreignness, obsession and unusual routes. The 7th house (Yuvati bhāva) governs marriage, the spouse, partnership and all dealings with the other.
What the classical reading says
Rahu in the 7th house puts the shadow of hunger directly onto partnership. The 7th is the house of the other — marriage, the spouse, business partners, and every negotiation in which someone else's will meets yours. Rahu does not govern that house so much as magnify it: partnership becomes unusually important, unusually charged, and rarely arrives by the ordinary route.
In practice this often shows as attraction to someone outside the expected circle — a different community, language, country or background — or a marriage that happens suddenly, or much later than the family assumed, or after an arrangement that fell through. Classical texts describe this restlessness bluntly. What they are pointing at is Rahu's appetite: it wants intensity from the partner, and intensity is not the same as steadiness.
There is a quieter and more useful reading. Rahu placed here often means the person genuinely learns the most about themselves through relationship — that the partner is the mirror, and that the lessons this house holds cannot be studied alone. Many charts with Rahu in the 7th settle into strong, unconventional, deeply loyal marriages, particularly once the early hunger for excitement has been lived through rather than suppressed.
What the placement cannot tell you on its own is how it will actually behave for you. Rahu's sign here depends entirely on your ascendant; whether Venus and Jupiter aspect it, how the 7th lord is placed, and which daśā you are currently running will change the reading substantially — sometimes reversing it.
What it does not mean
It does not mean your marriage is doomed, that you will be deceived, or that you must not marry. Rahu in the 7th is one of the most commonly over-dramatised placements on the internet, and the fear around it does far more damage than the placement. It describes an appetite and an unusual route, not a verdict.
